Here are the top stories today in Denver:
- Avian flu outbreak has killed more than 4.7 million birds in Colorado. The avian flu is contagious and has a near 100 percent mortality rate in poultry. In some instances, entire flocks have been euthanized when it's discovered. (CBS)
- At least two Denver council members are opposed to developing Park Hill Golf Course land. Denver taxpayers own the entirety of the development rights on the land where the Park Hill Golf Course sits, land that's protected by a perpetual conservation easement; but a developer has his heart set on developing the site, and the city keeps moving the ball forward in hopes of turning the 155 acres of open space into another maze of concrete and metal siding. (Gazette)
- Denver mayor candidates continue to file to run. So far, 20 individuals have filed to run for Denver mayor in April of 2023. No one knows how it's going to turn out, but several of the candidates have raised some serious campaign cash in the quest to be Denver's next mayor. (FOX31)
- Polis visits Club Q site in Colorado Springs. Gov. Jared Polis visited the memorial for the five people that were killed and the 17 that were wounded, when a gunman opened fire on a busy Saturday night. The memorial was set up after the Nov. 19 shooting at the gay night club. (KDVR)
- Southern Colorado COVID-19 spike has national park requiring masks. The Great Sand Dunes National Park is once again requiring that visitors wear masks in buildings as COVID-19 numbers continue to rise in southern Colorado counties. (FOX31)
