Here are the top stories in Denver today:
- Boy that fell through ice at Crystal Lake on life support. The middle school-aged boy that saved two girls and another boy, ended up under the partially frozen water at Crystal Lake Park in Roxborough. The accident happened on Wednesday afternoon, and the boy was rushed to the hospital after Metro Fire rescuers pulled him from the icy waters. (FOX31)
- What little is left of old Denver can still be found at the Butcher Block Cafe. The cafe at 38th and Brighton Boulevard is a living relic of the intersection between the new and the old Denver. (Denverite)
- Ullr's Garden is using containers to farm as a way to save the world. Along South Broadway, at the site of a former used car lot, several high-tech shipping containers are part of a plan to launch an urban farming revolution. (CO Sun)
- The City of Denver's trash system is garbage, and it is only going to get worse. With the recently passed Waste No More ballot item, the Denver Auditor's report has found that the Solid Waste Management Division doesn't have a strategic plan to implement the program successfully. Part of the problem stems from the department being short on drivers. (Westword)
- DIA expecting large influx of holiday travelers through the weekend. Some 600,000 travelers are expected pass through the Denver International Airport's TSA security checkpoints during the Thankgiving holiday week – that's an increase of more than 12 percent from the same period in 2021.
