Have you ever wondered about the small historic building on Logan Street, standing proud amid the parking lots between 13th and 14th?
Long owned by the Denver Woman’s Press Club (DWPC) and serving as a gathering spot for their members, the building will be one of many sites open to tour for free during the annual Doors Open Denver.
This signature annual event is sponsored by the Denver Architecture Foundation and highlights significant buildings in the City of Denver. The DWPC clubhouse, located at 1325 Logan St. will be open on Sat., Sept. 27, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Temporary parking is available in the lot to the North of the clubhouse while on the tour only. No registration required to tour free sites.
Former DWPC presidents, Mindy Sink, Linda Berry, Linda Pohle and a cadre of other members will welcome the public and tour them around. Built in 1910 as a home and studio for artist George Elbert Burr, it is a Denver Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors will learn about the history of the clubhouse and the many esteemed members of the Denver Woman’s Press Club.
Denver Architecture Foundation’s signature event is exactly as it sounds – an opportunity to open the doors to the places and spaces that make the Mile High City such a special city in which to live, work, study and play. This year, they will explore the relationship between architecture, design, planning and the natural environment through their theme "Architecture and Nature in Harmony." The event runs September 25-28, 2025. For more information and tickets for timed tours visit denverarchitecture.org/
DWPC is one of the oldest woman’s press clubs in the nation. Their roster is 200 strong, including not only journalists, but writers and other communications specialists of every ilk—novelists, essayists, poets, podcasters, screenwriters, editors and more, whose work is published, broadcast and shared across a range of modern media. The group is proud to have recently celebrated 100 years in their historic clubhouse at 1325 Logan St., where members gather to learn from one another and become better writers. They offer a range of public programs, author receptions, and writing seminars for budding and experienced writers. DWPC is accepting applications for professional, student and affiliate members.
