Caught On Video: Knife-Waving Alleged King Soopers Shoplifters

Denver police are seeking a couple that allegedly threatened security guards at a grocery store after hiding items in a purse.

DENVER, CO – Denver police are seeking a man and woman who allegedly pulled a knife on security guards at a Denver grocery store after being accused of shoplifting. Metro Denver Crime Stoppers has offered a $2,000 reward for information leading to their arrest.

On June 9, police were called to a King Soopers in the 10400 block of East Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Around 6:30 p.m., store security guards told police they saw a man and woman allegedly concealing items for sale in the woman's purse and then walking out the doors. When a security guard approached the couple, the man allegedly "started waiving [sic]a knife around," a police report said. The woman was approached and agreed to give back some of the items in her purse, but not all of them, the security guard told police.

By the time officers arrived, the man had fled in an unknown vehicle and the woman had walked north toward the Bluff Lake Apartments, police said.

Police described the suspects as a black male in his 50s, around 6 feet tall, wearing a white shirt and black pants and a black Female in her 50s, about 5’04,” wearing a pattern blouse and blue jeans.
