Celebrate New Year Safely: Denver Police

The Denver Police Department wants everyone to have a safe evening.

From the Denver Police Department: As the New Year’s Eve festivities begin, the Denver Police Department wants everyone to have a safe evening and offers the following tips:

  • Plan how you will arrive to your destinations safely by designating a driver, checking RTD’s schedule, or taking a cab or ride share service. RTD offers free rides on all its regularly scheduled services from 7:00 p.m. New Year’s Eve to 7:00 a.m. New Year’s Day.
  • Bring in the New Year responsibly by not over consuming alcohol or drugs, which impair your judgment and may put you in harm’s way.
  • Be alert and aware of your surroundings and how others are acting. Stick together and look out for friends and family, as it is important to keep an eye out for each other.
  • Keep your pets inside or away from fireworks and other loud noises.
  • As the calendar turns to 2018, do not shoot firearms or fireworks in celebration. Not only is this type of “celebration” is extremely dangerous for the community, it is also illegal.
  • As a final and very important tip, if you see something out of place or of concern, report it immediately to the police, security, and/or event staff.
