Church 'Active Shooter' Training Offered In Metro Denver

The US Dept of Justice and local law enforcement agencies are offering a safety workshop in Wheat Ridge for houses of worship.

WHEAT RIDGE, CO -- Whether protecting worshippers at a Christian church, a Buddhist temple, synagogue or a mosque, December is a month when administrators at houses of worship often feel vulnerable. This year is especially anxiety-prone after the Sutherland Springs, Texas church shootings earlier this month.

Leaders from Denver area houses of worship are invited to gather Dec. 5 for a special free safety seminar hosted by the Wheat Ridge Police and presented by the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney's Office. The interfaith workshop will present information about threats of violence to houses of worship and safety measures that can be taken during emergencies, including active shooter situations.

The workshop takes place at Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church, 7530 W. 38th Ave. starting at 5:30 p.m.
