Commerce City Man Charged With Murder Of Wife UPDATED
Derek Michael Johnston, 37, of Commerce City is being held on $500,000 bond, charged with first degree murder after his wife died Oct. 6.

BROOMFIELD, CO - Charges were upgraded to first-degree murder for Commerce City man Derek Michael Johnston, 37, after his wife, Melissa Ehrmann, 38, died of injuries from a Sept. 6 attack. Ehrmann died Oct. 6. Johnston was also charged with first degree assault and child abuse.
Johnston was to appear Oct. 19 for a preliminary hearing in Division L of Adams County District Court.
Commerce City police found Melissa Ehrmann unresponsive in the couple’s home in the 14800 block of
East 119th Avenue on September 6. She was transported to University Hospital. The couple’s 19-month-old son also was in the home.
