Here are the top stories today in Denver:

  1. More Colorado Starbucks employees vote to unionize. Employees at three more Denver and Colorado Springs-area Starbucks locations have voted to unionize, bringing the total number of organized locations to five in the state. (CPR)
  2. City Denver refuses to remove the anti-homeless fences scattered all over Capitol Hill. Blocking the right-of-way with anything, including rocks, fences and posts, must first obtain a permit from the Denver's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. Turns out that none of the fencing and other obstruction that has been placed in the public right-of-way has requested or obtained a permit, but it doesn't appear that the City of Denver is not planning on doing anything about it. (Sentinel)
  3. Ride of Silence focused on those that died in traffic crashes in 2021. Two Denver groups held a bike ride and a vigil on Wednesday, in honor those killed in traffic crashes on Denver streets over the last year. Since January of 2021, more than 114 individuals have lost their lives on Denver's streets. (CBS4)
  4. Denver rental property fee set to go into effect in 2023, but will it fail like the sidewalk program did? City officials are optimistic that the newly instituted rental property fees won't go the way the sidewalk fee went last year. The rental property fee is aimed at multi-unit property owners that want to rent their units. (9News)
  5. With less moisture forecast for the state's future, will Coloradoans go with artificial turf? For some folks in Lakewood are turning to alternatives to water hungry lawns, in part because artificial turf requires no grass seed, no fertilizer, no water, nor the weekend ritual for many of mowing. (CBS4)
