Denver celebrates Independence Day with events July 3 and 4 around the city.

DENVER, CO – Independence Day is close at hand, and there are multiple ways to enjoy the holiday, including events on July 2, July 3, neighborhood parades and events at sporting stadiums, country clubs and amusement parks in Denver.

Monday July 2

Four Mile Historic Park Independence Celebration 5 p.m.

Get started early with old-time pioneer-era games and historic demonstrations as well as the newfangled food trucks, a beer garden, and a viewing of the Glendale fireworks show after dark (weather permitting). While reveling in history of the 1880's, enjoy the music of the 1980s with Denver a cappella band Rubix. (No dogs).

The Denver Dolls perform their vintage patriotic set in the Great Hall from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

FREE concerts on Terminal Bar’s extended patio from 1 - 10pm. Beer on tap from Avery Brewing Company

Boomers: 1 – 3:30 p.m.
New Sensations 4 – 6:30 p.m.
Phat Daddy: 7 – 10 p.m.

Judges include chefs from Denver's best restaurants including Mizuna, Humble Pie, TAG Restaurant, Low Country Kitchen, The Family Jones, Little Man Ice Cream and award winning home-baker mother/daughter duo, Chandler and Patricia Romeo. Pie judging will take place July 3rd and winners will be announced at Hirshorn Park after the parade on the 4th. More info here. Pre-game with a free July 3 fireworks show in Civic Center Park, 101 W. 14th Ave., Denver. Sponsored by oil and gas producers Anadarko, the seventh-annual free community celebration will feature a concert, light show and fireworks display.

Wednesday, July 4

You can run or walk, or you can take part in competitive judged race walk. Plus kids 8 & Under can enjoy our FREE Firecracker Kids Fun Run. Parking is available at South High School or around the perimeter of Washington Park

  • 7:30 a.m. - Race Day Registration
  • 8:30 a.m. - 4 Mile Run/Walk Starts
  • 9:30 a.m. - Awards and Costume Contest
  • 10:00 a.m. - Kids Free Firecracker Fun Run (8 & Under)

July 4

Lower Highland neighborhood, will be celebrating 11 years of bringing the community together for a parade, family-friendly fun and games, live music and a community potluck. Don't miss Little Man Ice Cream's 200-foot long ice cream sundae. Kids are invited to bring their favorite decorated, non-motorized bike and meet at 32nd Avenue and Clay Street. The parade will begin at 9:30 AM and travel down 32nd Avenue to Tejon Street, ending at Hirshorn Park for music, food and games. FREE hot dogs will be provided. Bring fruit, a salad or a side dish to share with their neighbors.

July 4

This parade is led by police motorcycles followed by adults and children through a portion of the neighborhood. Parade starts on Magnolia/Eastman and ends at Hutchinson Park. Picnic and games follow at the park.

July 4

Home-decorated-non-motorized- floats, music provided by the VFW Band, a volunteer run booth with refreshments for purchase and the ever-popular fire truck.

July 4

Doors open at 6 p.m. No Parking will be available at or nearby the GVR Golf Club. But a FREE shuttle service is available. Beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the event (valid ID's will be required for ALL alcohol purchases).

Music schedule:

  • New Sensations (Opening Act): 6:10 - 7:20 p.m.
  • The Wash Park Band (Headliner): 7:45 - 9:30 p.m.
  • Fireworks Display: 9:35 p.m.

Remember, fireworks are illegal in Denver, even sparklers, bottle rockets and stink bombs. Fines are up to $999 and one year in jail.
