A 28-year-old Denver man is charged with murder and assault after allegedly beating one man to death and attacking two teenagers last Friday. The Denver District Attorney's Office says that DeJuan Stamps faces counts of first degree murder, first degree assault, as well as second and third degree assault.

Police had been called to the 2400 block of Curtis Street last Friday for a report of an assault in progress. Once there, they say they saw Stamps beating a man - later identified as 62-year-old James Farmer who was lying in the middle of the street.

"I did it, I did it," Stamps was shouting as he beat Farmer, according to the officers. (For more information on this and other local stories, subscribe to your local Patch for breaking news alerts.)
