Denver Minimum Wage Could Go Up To $15 Per Hour: Report

Denver city leaders plan to introduce the proposal Thursday, which could set minimum pay at $15 per hour by 2021, according to reports.

DENVER, CO — Denver’s minimum wage could increase to $15 per hour by 2021 if the city council opts to pass a new proposal brought to the table by city leaders. According to reports, a proposal will be revealed at a press conference on Thursday.

Mayor Michael Hancock and Councilwoman At-large Robin Kniech are leading the proposal, the Denver Post reports. While the statewide minimum wage will increase to $12 per hour next year, Denver’s proposal takes advantage of a new state law that allows cities and counties to set their own minimum wage.

The increase would reportedly be enacted in phases, with the first happening as early as Jan. 1.
