DENVER, CO -- Denver police officers shot two persons after a high-speed chase in an SUV from Aurora to 41st Avenue and Albion Street, police tweeted Monday night. Both were referred to as "suspects" by police, one was a male, a police spokesman said. Both were taken to a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds. No officers were injured, John White, a police department spokesperson said.
Neither of the people injured were identified as Mauricio Venzor, 23, held for attempted murder, who reportedly escaped while being taken to Denver Health.
White said undercover officers searching for Venzor were surveilling a location in Aurora this morning based on information they had developed. An SUV left the Aurora home "at a high rate of speed," White said. "It was believed that vehicle had a connection with our suspect."

When the chase ended at 41st & Albion, shots were fired, White said. "We're not sure who fired the shots, whether it was the suspects or our officers." Two people in the SUV were taken to a hospital with injuries, White said. "We're waiting to find out what their conditions are."
Venzor is still at-large, and considered armed and dangerous, White said. Police would be interviewing neighbors in the area to find out if any witnesses saw anything, White said.
