Denver Police Warn Of Halloween Rules Hoax

Fake trick-or-treating rules are circulating on social media, Denver police warned.

DENVER, CO — Fake trick-or-treating rules have been showing up on social media posts, Denver police warned. The hoax lists false 'municipal code' regulations that threaten children over 12 years old with fines and/or jail time for trick-or-treating.

The fake 'Halloween rules' image claims that trick-or-treaters over 12 could face a misdemeanor, a fine of up to $100 and/or jail up to six months. The bogus rules also claim that anyone caught trick-or-treating after 8 p.m. could face a misdemeanor, a fine of up to $100 and/or jail up to 30 days.

The Denver Police Department said all those claims are false and that kids of all ages are allowed to trick-or-treat in Denver at any time.
