Denver Murder Suspect Arrested In Oregon: Police

Deven "Ziggy" Tomasso, 33, was nabbed by Federal Marshals while on the run in Oregon, following the stabbing death of Joshua Jost in January

DENVER, CO — A Denver murder suspect, on the run since January and thought to be in the Pacific Northwest, was nabbed in Oregon this week by U.S. Marshals, the Denver District Attorney said.

Deven "Ziggy" Bradley Tomasso, 33, was charged in January with first-degree murder for the Jan. 4 stabbing death of 44-year-old Joshua Jost, also known as "Poet," following an argument in the first block of South Hazel Court. The two men had been living in an RV and got into an argument over a cigarette lighter around 9:30 p.m., a police affidavit said.

A witness told police she heard the sound of a "switch blade" or "butterfly knife" being opened and saw Jost on the ground bleeding, clutching his stomach. The witness said Tomasso fled.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and a manhunt began — for which Denver police asked the public for help, noting that Tomasso was considered armed and dangerous.

Spokane, Washington, police believed Tomasso was in the area after he fled Denver in January, but U.S. Marshals arrested Tomasso on the outstanding warrant in Portland on June 20.

Tomasso is being held in the Multnomah County jail with no bond, according to an internet inmate roster.

Tomasso was no stranger to the Denver police. In 2014, he allegedly dropped his wallet after threatening a 7-Eleven clerk with a knife during a robbery.

At the time, Denver Police posted on their Facebook page:

"On his way out the suspect dropped his wallet, which included his identification card … If anyone knows 29 year-old Deven B. Tomasso, will you please tell him that we have his wallet and he can pick it up at any one of the Denver Police Stations."
