Here are the top stories today in Denver:
- RTD's staffing shortage continues to impact express service between Denver and Boulder. Even with a new raise for drivers, the Regional Transportation District is still facing an uphill battle to return to pre-pandemic service levels. The express bus service between Boulder and Denver still hasn't been able to return. (CPR)
- Denver's STAR program lauded for reducing crime and police time on calls. Denver's Support Team Assistance Response program, during first six months of the program, saw a nearly 35 percent drop in low-level crimes in the districts it was operating in. (FOX31)
- Fourth of July fireworks shows canceled across the metro area. With the current drought conditions, cities across the metro area are still planning events for the 4th of July, but without firework shows. (CBS4)
- Variant transmission forces Denver to move to CDC's high COVID risk category. Denver County joined several other metro area counties that are already at the high COVID-19 community level, as more transmissible variants continue to spread. Those include: Arapahoe, Broomfield, Boulder, Douglas and Jefferson (7News)
- CDOT and Bicycle Colorado hope signs will protect cyclists. The Colorado Department of Transportation has created a new sign that is intended to remind drivers of Colorado's "Three-Foot Law." That's the one that requires people driving cars to give bicyclists at least three feet of space when passing. (KMGH)

Are you a Denver resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2 percent when inflation is >3 percent
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164 percent (1995-2021)
