🌱 Denver Water Not Legally Responsible For Repairs + New CU President

  1. What do the unhoused in Aurora think of the city's new camping ban? Many living in Aurora without a home were unaware that the Aurora City Council had passed a measure that banned urban camping. (CO Newsline)
  2. Two vehicles at Denver County vehicle impound lot catch on fire. Early Wednesday morning, the Denver Fire Department responded to the vehicle fires at the Denver County Vehicle Impound facility on York Street, in Northeast Denver. (CBS4)
  3. Denver is getting a new composting facility. Compost Colorado (CoCo) is set to construct new composting facility that will serve Denver – in hopes of cutting fuel emissions and create a circular economy around food waste. (5280)
  4. Man joins homeless camp slated for sweep by City of Denver. Denver must provide seven days' notice before sweeping encampments. So the question many ask, is why would someone move into one that's slated be swept? This man's response: "It's where my buddies were." (Westword)
  5. The University of Colorado officially has a new president. The CU Board of Regents voted unanimously on Wednesday to confirm Todd Saliman as the the new president of the four campus system. Many hope that Saliman will champion underrepresented communities early in his new tenure. (CPR)

Broken Water Pipe Update:

  • Denver Water says it's not legally responsible for the water main that burst. More than 50 properties were damaged when a 24 inch water main burst last weekend. While the water utility says its not on the hook for the damage to properties caused by the flood, they have committed to helping residents cover the cost of the damages incurred. (9News)
