Here are the top stories today in Denver:
- Denver Housing Authority's housing lottery is coming up. If you're hoping to get a Section 8 housing voucher, get in line. DHA hopes to deliver 500 vouchers in their annual lottery on Sept. 15 and 16. In past years, there's been as many as 25,000 vying for the limited number of vouchers. (Denverite)
- Is the Denver real estate market shifting to buyer's market? The Denver Metro Association of Realtors' August report may have some good news for home shoppers. The average price for a detached single-family home has dropped by more than $25,000, slipping below $800,000 for the first time some last march. (Westword)
- Regional food banks see increased demand, and fewer donations. Area food banks are seeing a record number of families seeking assistance, and most of the food center's shelves are bare, and donations have dropped to a trickle. (FOX31)
- Bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure diverts from Cherry Creek near Denver Country Club. The original designer of the path along Cherry Creek says that it was because of the golf course that the path veers away from the creek. (9News)
- Panes of glass have been popping out of downtown apartment building. Units at Eviva on Cherokee have had a number of glass panes shatter on the building's balconies. (TechnoBlender)
