Here are the top stories today in Denver:

  1. Regional clean air plan moves forward, but does it go far enough? The plan to meet the EPA's ozone-reduction requirements admits upfront that it won't solve the problem. (CO Sun)
  2. When Tom's Diner on Colfax reopens, it'll be a bar. Based on a 1970's Palm Springs vibe, Tom Messina's "new" diner on Colfax will reopen next month, not as a greasy spoon, but instead, will be serving fancy cocktails in a themed atmosphere. (Denverite)
  3. City of Denver helping tenants with broken air-conditioning units. Denver will start accepting 311 calls and creating case numbers for tenants with non-functioning air-conditioning units. In the past, the City of Denver didn't take action on A/C issues because it's not an item that's required for rental units. (Westword)
  4. Some DPS schools don't have air-conditioning. In 2022, it's hard to imagine that schools in Denver don't have functioning air-conditioning systems. A recent report shows that 31 of DPS' 202 campuses don't have air conditioning, leaving students and faculty to sweat it out as school is set to start, amid broiling hot temperatures. (FOX31)
  5. Denver's LODO food truck ban gets national attention, and not in a good way. When the bars let out, Denver Police Department has been concerned about safety in lower downtown, and DPD has ordered food trucks out of the area, but the ban is reverberating throughout the community.
