DENVER, CO - From Denver Police Department: As the Colorado Rockies face (and hopefully sweep) the Los Angeles Dodgers during this weekend’s home opening series, plenty of people will be out rockin’ their purple in the downtown area this weekend. As the games and festivities are underway near the stadium this weekend, it is important to celebrate responsibly. Here are some tips to make it safe, as well as enjoyable:

  • Plan your trip ahead of time
    • Be aware of road closures and potential traffic delays near the stadium
  • Utilize a rideshare service, public transportation, or taxi to make getting to the stadium easier
    • Utilizing one of these methods can help reduce the influx of vehicles coming to the stadium, as well as provide a safe alternative for people who plan to consume alcohol or marijuana.
    • If you use a rideshare service, make sure you verify your driver and the vehicle they are supposed to be driving.
  • Never drive while intoxicated
    • The Denver Police Department will conduct impaired driving saturation patrols over the weekend at various times throughout the city
  • Watch out for pedestrians and bicyclists
    • If you are driving near the stadium, please pay extra attention to the pedestrians and bicyclists who will be out and about in large numbers.
  • Consume marijuana/alcohol responsibly
    • If you are of age to consume alcohol or marijuana and choose to do so, please consume responsibly and do not overindulge.
