False Kidnapping Calls In Southwest Denver: Police Warn Of Scam

Police said several Denver parents received fake calls demanding ransoms for allegedly kidnapped children.

DENVER, CO -- Denver police warned that several parents in southwest Denver this week had received fake calls telling them their children had been kidnapped and demanding ransoms be wired to a bank.

"The caller demands a monetary payment from the reporting party, in exchange for the release of the reporting party’s child," a statement from Denver police said.

None of the children were found to be abducted or harmed, police said.

Police said parents receiving such phone calls should immediately contact the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000.

"Do not respond to the demands," police warned.
