- City Cafe Bakery on Broadway shutters to make way for luxury apartments. City Cafe baked its last cookie on Thursday, Jan. 5. The building that the bakery has called home for many years is set to be demolished and replaced by an 18-story apartment building. (9News)
- Fracking is making the front range's air quality worse than believed. A new study shows that production of fossil fuels in Colorado is contributing more ozone pollution in the Front Range region than all auto emissions combined. (CPR)
- University of Colorado scientists are helping keep space clean. Scientists and engineers at the University of Colorado are working on ways to mitigate risks of damage to space craft that are circling the earth and developing technologies that can track and remove space debris. (9News)
- A new batch of COVID-19 variants have already arrived in Colorado. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said that two COVID-19 variants are rapidly growing in strength and expected to take over soon. (Westword)
