The Front Range saw a break from ozone and wildfire smoke warnings over the weekend, but by Wednesday, wildfires could again threaten air quality in metro Denver and Boulder County.

Ozone concentrations are expected to be in the 'good to moderate range' Wednesday, so unusually sensitive people should consider reducing prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion between noon and 8 p.m., state public health officials said. Fine particular matter concentrations are also expected to be in the 'good to moderate' range Wednesday.

Carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide levels are expected to remain in the 'good' category Wednesday; however visibility could range from moderate to poor.

"The greatest impacts are expected for locations north of I-70, but may expand further southward on Tuesday afternoon and evening, and into Wednesday morning. Public health impacts are expected to remain minimal, however, in areas where these conditions are present, unusually sensitive people should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion."

Dry, warm conditions are expected to spread smoke from the Middle Fork fire near Steamboat Springs and the massive Cameron Peak wildfire in Larimer County. Smoke from out-of-state wildfires is also expected to affect Front Range air quality Wednesday.
