  • RTD announces cuts to routes across the metro area.
  • CU Denver holding off on construction of new building on the Auraria Campus due to increased costs.

Here are the top stories in Denver today:

  1. Drivers sought in deadly hit-and-run that killed bicyclist. Police are searching for the drivers of two vehicles that may have been involved in a deadly hit-and-run last Friday. The crash occurred near West 38th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard. Police said they have video of two vehicles that were possibly involved, one is a SUV, and the other is a green Subaru. (FOX31)
  2. RTD is terminating both C and F light rail lines. The Regional Transportation District announced that it will discontinue the C and F light rail lines beginning on Sunday, Jan. 8. RTD is in the process of eliminating less used parts of their system, eliminating both bus and light rail routes in hopes of making RTD more efficient. (9News)
  3. Colorado's backcountry has too many hikers leaving their poo behind. Figuring out how to keep hikers from leaving their poop behind has outdoor recreation groups jumping into action by handing out poop-disposal kits. The problem has spured Crested Butte resident to develop new concept to bury it. (CO Sun)
  4. Increased construction costs lead to CU Denver to pause building a new one on the Auraria Campus. Original construction cost estimates for the new engineering building was originally $60-$70 million, but costs have gone up so much they're putting the project on hold.   5. According to TSA, airline passengers have been packing pets in their luggage. If you're planning on traveling from DIA this holiday season, the TSA is asking travelers to not to pack their pets. TSA agents have been trained to see through the carry-ons and spot all sorts of threats, including pets. (FOX31)
