Instead of Peaks, Climbers Tackle Tallest Tower in Colorado

Training, team building and fundraising start today for the 2019 Anthem Fight For Air Climb at Republic Plaza. The American Lung Association in Colorado announced today that registration is now open for the event, set for Sunday, March 3rd.

The Fight For Air Climb invites individuals, families, groups of friends, corporate teams and first responders to race up the stairs of Republic Plaza, Colorado’s tallest skyscraper (56 floors, and 1,098 steps), to raise awareness and money to fight lung disease.

“This is the perfect time to start building your team, training and fundraising for the Fight For Air Climb. Stair climbing is an additional way to stay active during winter months, and provides a fun activity for families, team building for corporate teams and a fundraising activity for students,” said Ellen Penrod, Executive Director of the Lung Association. “The Fight For Air Climb brings the community together to fight for something that impacts us all – clean air and healthy lungs.”

In Colorado, more than 608,000 people suffer from lung disease and this year alone, it is estimated that more than 2,300 residents will be diagnosed with lung cancer. The Fight For Air Climb raises awareness for lung disease, raises money for life-saving research, and funds critical local programing like educational programs to help local children better manage their asthma and free programs to help locals quit smoking.

Registration for the 2019 Fight For Air Climb is currently open online or by calling 303-388-4327. Registration is $30 until January 30, and then $35 until February 27 and $40 on event day.
