Hello and happy Thursday. I'm back in your inbox this morning with everything you need to know about what's happening these days in town. Here we go.

Thursday's weather: Hot. High: 95 Low: 62.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Denver who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Denver Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories in Denver today:

  1. Denver's rental licensing program's compliance is not going so well. Denver City Council passed a measure that would require all rental units to be inspected and licensed. Turns out that less than one percent of the owners have complied. (FOX 31)
  2. Denver is giving the boot to the homeless residents staying at the Quality Inn in Jefferson Park. A group of unhoused Denver residents were staying at the Quality Inn on Zuni Street during the pandemic, but the federal funding has run out, and now they are having to pack their bags. (Denverite)
  3. Why do so many DPS schools not have air conditioning? More than 25 DPS schools had to either amend their schedules or cancel classes all together this week because of the extreme heat during the school day. (KDVR)
  4. Xcel's coal-fired Comanche-3 power plant is so unreliable, one partner wants to bail. When the coal plant is operational, one group is supposed to receive half of the power the plant produces. In 2020, because of outages, CORE got no power from the plant. (CO Sun)
  5. Concrete's dirty little pollution secret: It's responsible for more than 8 percent of global carbon dioxide emissions. That's three times the emissions associated with aviation. Algae could provide an equivalent type of material, that could cut emissions by as much as 90 percent. (The Conversation)
