Here are the top stories in Denver today:

  1. Metro homeless population grew during the pandemic. It probably doesn't come as a surprise, but the metro Denver's homeless population grew by almost 13 percent during the pandemic. The annual point in time count from last January shows that the number of people living on the street continues to grow. (CO Sun)
  2. Denver City Council eyes making owner-opposed landmark designations more difficult. Some think there should be a higher standard for owner-opposed designations. Several City Council members are pitching a plan would allow a property owner to present their case during the public hearing for any landmark designation. (Westword)
  3. RTD relaunching the MyRide card. After a month of free bus service this coming August, the Regional Transportation District plans to re-introduce the MyRide card, with a more useful and simple system. (Denverite)
  4. Demand for Narcan skyrockets after Commerce City deaths. In the six months prior to five people in Commerce City overdosing on fentanyl, there were only 500 requests for naloxone. Afterward there were requests for as many as 1,200 in a single day. (Local Today)
