Last Chance To Change Political Parties In Boulder County

Registered voters who wish to change parties before the June 26 primary election must make their wishes known next week.

BOULDER, CO -- Are you sick of the Democrats? Fed up with the GOP?

If you're a Boulder County registered voter who's declared a party affiliation but wants to change parties before the June 26 primary, you need to pay attention.

Ballots begin to be mailed to voters on June 4. In order to participate in a party primary election, a voter must be registered with a specific party or be registered as an unaffiliated voter, the Boulder County Clerk & Recorder reminds us.

If you want to change parties, you must declare your affiliation no later than Tuesday, May 29.

The same goes for voters registered with one of Colorado’s minor political parties: American Constitution, Green, Libertarian, or Unity Parties. If you want to vote in the June primary, you must declare a party affiliation or declare yourself "unaffiliated."

For those who want to keep the world guessing, unaffiliated voters (who have not registered as either Democrat or Republican) will get two mail ballots, one for the Dems and one for the GOP. You will be only allowed to return one ballot.

Boulder County voters are encouraged to periodically check their voter registration to make sure it is up-to-date, especially if they have moved or have not voted in several years, the Boulder County Clerk Y Recorder's Office said in a message.

Voter registration can be verified online at www.GoVoteColorado.com. Voters can also visit the website to register to vote, view ballot content, and learn more about 2018 elections. They can also call 303-413-7740 for more information or visit one of three Boulder County Clerk & Recorder’s office branches:
