LEGO Historical Dioramas At History Colorado Center

Plastic brick artists will create "LEGOrado" historic scenes, while visitors can make their own creations.

From History Colorado Center: Jumpstart a fun-filled summer at the History Colorado Center, starting Memorial Day weekend!

A new whimsical Centennial State-inspired display built entirely out of LEGO® bricks will open to the public on Saturday, May 26. The local LEGO builders with the Colorado & Wyoming LEGO Users Group (CoWLUG) bring a fanciful version of Colorado to life. This display showcases Colorado stories from particular places and times, past and future! LEGOrado will be on display through Labor Day.

“The display is an artistic interpretation — not meant to be truly historical or completely serious — and made to inspire young builders to envision their surroundings, past, present and future in a fun and refreshing way,” said Joel Hoornbeek, CoWLUG builder. For more information about CoWLUG, visit www.cowlug.net.
Plenty of LEGO bricks are available at tables around the display for visitors to build their own creations. The History Colorado Center is also offering LEGO building workshops — build (and keep!) your own Colorado-style LEGO set, then take a special guided museum tour based on your creation.
Workshops are $45 ($40 for History Colorado members) and include a small LEGO set to take home. Space is limited; pre-registration required. Registration information can be found at HistoryColorado.org or call (303) 866-2394.
