Man Charged With Attempted Murder For Firing At Police Post: DA

The 21-year-old is accused of shooting up a police command post, where officers were working inside, and crashing into a cop car.

DENVER, CO – A 21-year-old man, accused of firing at a Denver Police Department command post in southwest Denver was charged with six counts of attempted murder, the Denver District Attorney's Office said today.

On May 5, Kairo Alejandres-Vizcaino allegedly shot into the post, set up at South Federal Boulevard and West Arkansas Avenue, while officers were inside, officials said. During a subsequent pursuit by police, the suspect reportedly tried ditching the officers, ran a stop sign and crashed into a cop car before his arrest, the department said.

Officers said they recovered from Alejandres-Vizcaino's vehicle a semi-automatic handgun.

Denver District Attorney Beth McCann formally charged him today with six counts of attempted murder with extreme indifference and one count of vehicular eluding.

Alejandres-Vizcaino, who will turn 22 on May 14, is to appear in court May 15 at 8:30 a.m.
