Man Stabbed At Denver Performing Arts Ctr. Was Security Guard

Caleb Schroeder, 23, was arrested Saturday and charged with first degree murder and aggravated robbery of security guard Scott Tice, 39.

DENVER, CO -- Denver Police released more information Tuesday about the May 25 killing of a security guard at the parking garage at the Denver Performing Arts Center.

Caleb Schroeder, 23, was arrested Saturday and charged with first degree murder and aggravated robbery for the death of Scott Tice, 39. Tice was found early Friday morning with multiple stab wounds on the fourth floor of the parking structure at 1055 13th Street. Tice was employed by Allied Universal Security, a private company that patrolled the DCPA campus, according to an arrest affidavit for Schroeder.

Schroeder was caught on surveillance videos wearing a long-sleeved light-colored shirt, blue jeans, dark shoes with metal buckles and carrying a backpack as he left the parking garage around 4:49 a.m. Police found traces of blood in the parking garage stairwells, the arrest affidavit said.

Schroeder was reportedly tracked by a signal emitting from Tice's Samsung cell phone, which Schroeder allegedly stole during the attack. The phone "pinged" at a spot in Aurora, and police found Schroeder in the 13300 block of East Montview Boulevard, the affidavit said.

Schroeder had a bloody pocketknife on his person, and was in possession of Tice's cell phone, police said. He had an Allied Security badge pinned to the strap of his backpack.
