Here are the top stories today in Denver:
- A candidate in the 2023 mayor's race is also running for her state house seat in 2022. The state statute is clearly not clear, and candidate Leslie Herod finds herself in a complicated place, running for the state house and as Denver mayor. (Denverite)
- ZGF plants a flag in Denver. The interdisciplinary design firm that's working on the masterplan for the parking lots that surround Ball Arena is opening an office in the Dairy Block. (Mile High CRE)
- This weekend's cold front could bring rain and snow in the high country. A cold front will move into Colorado on Friday, with afternoon rain and thunderstorms in Denver and high elevation snow above the tree line is possible. (FOX31)
- Man trips into traffic in Wheat Ridge, is hit by passing car. A man using a walker tripped and then fell into Kipling Street and was then hit by a driver that took off. Wheat Ridge Police report that the driver may not have even known they hit the pedestrian. (7News)
- Municipalities are finally starting to see money from Colorado's share of the $400 million opioid settlement funds. The Colorado Opioid Abatement Council was set up to distribute the money across the state and are beginning to release those funds now. Municipalities can use the settlement funds on things like addiction treatment, recovery and prevention programs. (CPR)
