Men Ran Away After Shooting Denver Cancer Patient, Police Say

Police are seeking two men seen fleeing after the fatal shooting of Elijah Toledo, 22, near Schafer Park in Denver.

DENVER, CO -- Denver police are seeking two men who were caught on video running away after fatally shooting a 22-year-old man and leaving him in the street. On April 19, around 6:48 p.m., Denver police responding to a call found Elijah Toledo lying in the street with gunshot wounds near Schafer Park at East 37th Avenue and Elizabeth Street. Toledo was pronounced dead.

Investigators working with neighboring businesses have released surveillance video of two men running from the scene shortly after the shooting.

Toledo was the oldest of six children and had survived four bouts with cancer, according to a GoFundMe site set up by relatives for his burial expenses.

"[Elijah] was always respectful, caring, and giving. You would have never realised just how much pain he was in because he never showed it," Elijah's uncle posted on the site.

Police gave no motive for the shooting, which is still under investigation.
