Montessori Life Skills Bring Life to Individuals with Dementia

A collaboration between Juniper Village at Aurora, a Wellspring Memory Care Community, and Sensory Outings based in Boulder, aims to provide special enrichment activities to those living with dementia. According to both, the Montessori method of learning activities promote self-worth, purpose, cognitive interaction, and independence among those living with dementia.

Sensory Outings team leaders explain that the Montessori method, known for its success in early childhood education, has proven to be highly beneficial for older adults, particularly those facing memory challenges. By adapting the Montessori philosophy to senior living, Juniper Village at Aurora is taking a proactive approach to improve the lives of its residents.

The Montessori Life Skills Programming is offered once a month at Juniper Village at Aurora, allowing residents to engage in a wide range of activities tailored to their individual needs and preferences. These activities are designed to stimulate their physical, mental, and emotional well-being, promoting a sense of purpose and fulfillment.
