Extinguished: Recycling Plant Fire In Commerce City Finally Out

The Adams Co., South Adams Co. and Denver fire departments battled a blaze for more than 24 hours in the 5300 block of Franklin Street.

ADAMS COUNTY, CO – A fire at a metal recycling planting Commerce City was finally declared extinguished Wednesday afternoon after more than 100 fire personnel fought the blaze for more than 24 hours.

Plumes of black smoke from Waste Management's Iron and Metals recycling facility, 5335 Franklin Street were visible all over downtown Denver as the fire burned in Commerce City.

Adams County and South Adams County fire departments were on-hand, with 13 other departments rotating firefighters in and out over the course of the fire.

The cause of the fire had not yet been determined Wednesday.
