S. Platte Body IDed as Missing Denver Man UPDATE

Denver Police said volunteer searchers found the body of registered nurse Adam Gilbertson, 29, who disappeared Dec. 15.

DENVER, CO -- UPDATE The Denver County Coroner Sunday identified the remains of an adult male found in the South Platte River as registered nurse Adam Gilbertson, 29, who had been missing since Dec. 15. Gilbertson's body was found in the river around 2:30 p.m. near I-25 and West Alameda Avenue by members of a volunteer search party looking for him.

"Our family wants to thank the 130+ volunteers most did not even knowing Adam," a family member posted on the Find Adam Ronald Gilbertson Facebook page. "We want to thank the Denver police for all their help and support as well. Thank you for the prayers."

About 130 volunteers of family and friends gathered Saturday to search for Minnesota native Gilbertson, who disappeared after drinking with friends on Dec. 14. When he failed to show up for work the next morning, employers called his sister Amy in Minnesota.
Video footage showed Gilbertson leaving Charlies Nightclub on East Colfax alone around midnight. He was then seen on video leaving Syntax Physic Opera bar on South Broadway around 12:53 a.m. The family released information that video around 1:05 a.m. showed Gilbertson north of West Alaska Place at 1:05 a.m., between South Cherokee and South Bannock Streets.
The Minnesota native, living in Denver, was initially out with friends. He continued the night alone and was seen leaving Charlie’s Nightclub on East Colfax just before midnight.At 12:53 a.m., Gilbertson was captured on video as he left Syntax Physic Opera bar on South Broadway. Newly discovered surveillance footage put the 29-year-old north of West Alaska Place at 1:05 a.m., between South Cherokee and South Bannock Streets.

The Denver Post reported that family members had already taken his belongings back to Minnesota.
