Scooter Rider Gets DUI Charge After Running Into Police Officer

A Denver police officer was directing traffic before a Rockies game when the scooter rider hit both him and his patrol car.

DENVER, CO — A man is facing alcohol-related charges after the stand-up scooter he was riding crashed into a police officer over the weekend, according to the Denver Police Department. The accident happened Saturday at 21st and North Market streets near Coors Field.

According to KUSA-TV, the officer was directing traffic at the intersection before a Rockies game when the rider lost control of the scooter and ran into the officer. Police said the rider also hit the officer’s patrol car.

The officer was uninjured in the accident, though the scooter rider was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, police said. The rider is now facing a possible charge of driving under the influence.
