Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Parts Of Denver Area

DENVER, CO — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm alert for parts of Denver's metro area. Quarter-size hail and intense wind gusts could hit some regions. The alert has been issued until 8 p.m.

Locations most-heavily impacted include Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, El Paso and Lincoln counties, officials said.

A severe thunderstorm hit Denver International Airport Thursday. Temperatures are expected to plummet in Denver's metro area, just in time for the official start of summer.

Showers and thunderstorms are predicted to hit the Front Range and Denver both Saturday and Sunday.

A strong cold front is expected over the next few days, and severe storms are forecast for northeast Colorado, including Denver.
