More snowfall is expected in Denver's metro area over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday will see a mostly clear sky, with a low around 25. That sunny trend is expected to continue Saturday, with highs in the mid 50s, weather officials said.

Then there's a 40 percent chance of snowfall overnight Saturday and early Sunday morning, and a 70 percent chance of snow Sunday during the day, according to the agency.

The snowfall is expected to end Sunday night, but could begin again on Monday.

If you're planning a weekend trip down south, make sure you give yourself extra time on the roadways.

"Another storm system is expected to move over southern Colorado Saturday night and Sunday which will bring a return of light snow to the central mountains and a mix of rain and snow over eastern Colorado," the weather alert read.
