Hello, everybody! I'm here with your Thursday edition of the Denver Daily, filled with all the things you need to know about what's happening locally. Including updates on:

  • Natural gas ban doesn't pass muster at Denver's LUTI committee.
  • Sloans Lake apartment building breaks ground, adding another 196 luxury apartments.
  • New ozone plan totally misses the mark to make vast improvements to Colorado's air quality.

Thursday's weather: Much colder. High: -4 Low: -14.

Here are the top stories in Denver today:

  1. 196-unit building breaks ground on West Colfax. The Denver West Colfax neighborhood has millions of square feet of mixed-use development this currently planned or under construction, and this project at Colfax and Irving will add another 196 luxury apartments to the mix. (Mile High CRE)
  2. Environmental groups send clear message that the Colorado's new ozone plan totally misses the mark. Colorado's Air Quality Control Commission has approved a plan to reduce Colorado's ozone pollution, but everyone seems to agree that the approved plan won't actually meet required air quality standards set by the EPA. (Westword)
  3. Denver won't ban new homes with natural gas, at least for now. Clean energy advocates had hoped that Denver City Council would include a ban on natural gas hookups in newly built homes as a way to combat climate change. City officials indicated that the decision to not ban gas hookups was a way to revise Denver's requirements downward, matching more realistic codes in other cities. (CO Sun)
  4. Greyhound bus lines is offering free bus tickets to runaways. The bus operator is helping reunite families this holiday season. Greyhound is giving free bus tickets as part of their 'Home Free' program that helps runaway, homeless and exploited youth, between the ages of 12 and 21, reunite with their families. (FOX31)
