Winter Storm Warning Issued For Metro Denver, Boulder
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Denver's western metro area and Boulder.
The National Weather Service has issued weather alerts for the western metro Denver area and Boulder. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Up to 14 inches of snow is expected to fall Monday and Tuesday, weather officials said. Winds could gust up to 40 mph.
"Prepare for a period where travel is impossible late tonight and Tuesday," the alert read. "Travel during the period of heavy snow is strongly discouraged."

Weather officials said drivers should consider alternate plans for commuting Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
"Moderate to heavy snow is expected in the northern Colorado mountains and foothills late Monday afternoon and Monday night, resulting in difficult travel conditions," the storm alert read. "Snow will also spread onto the plains Monday afternoon and Monday night, and may be heavy for a while late this afternoon and evening in areas near the foothills."

The following areas were listed in the storm warning: Boulder, Golden, Lakewood, Longmont, Estes Park, Glendevey, Nederland, Red Feather Lakes, Bailey, Central City, Evergreen, Georgetown, Idaho Springs and Westcreek.
"If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency," the warning read.
Government offices across Denver metro's area announced early closures Monday.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the City of Denver, Aurora, Brighton, Greeley and Castle Rock.
Lighter snow will continue after midnight into Tuesday with cold temperatures, weather officials said.
