Winter Storm Warning Issued For West Metro Denver, Boulder
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Boulder and Denver's western metro area.
The National Weather Service has issued weather alerts for Boulder and the western metro Denver area. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday.
Up to 15 inches of snow is expected to fall throughout the day and into the evening, weather officials said. Winds will gust around 11 mph.
"Travel could be very difficult due to snow cover and slushy roads," the alert read. "Heavy snow on tree branches could cause branches to break. The heavy snow on power lines and broken tree branches could lead to power outages.

"A storm system will continue to impact Northern Colorado today with snow continuing, but with a decreasing trend of snow expected this afternoon through the evening. So far, the heaviest snowfall has been from Boulder county northward to Fort Collins and stretching across southern Weld county; where 8 to 12 inches of snow have fallen, with the highest report of 20 inches reported at Glen Haven in Larimer County."

"If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency," the warning read.
The following areas were listed in the storm warning: Boulder, Arvada, Golden, Lakewood, Longmont, Fort Collins, Hereford, Loveland and Nunn.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the City of Denver, Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Aurora, Brighton, Greeley, Castle Rock and other surrounding regions.
