Woman Charged In Man's Killing On State Capitol Grounds

DENVER, CO—A woman is behind bars and charged in connection with a recent fatal assault at Colorado's state capitol, according to the Denver District Attorney's Office.
Stephanie Martinez, 36, is charged with two counts of murder in the first degree, one count of assault in the second degree and one count of violating conditions of her bail bond.
On Saturday, Denver Police (DPD) and Colorado State Patrol (CSP) were called to statehouse grounds for multiple reports of an assault that left one man dead, officials said.

The Denver District Attorney's Office formally announced Martinez's charges Wednesday. They said eye-witness accounts and video footage ultimately led to her arrest.
In a police affidavit obtained by The Denver Post, video reportedly shows Martinez attacking an 80-year-old man, pulling him to the ground and striking him several times. A motive for the attack was not clear.
