Car Theft Spike In JeffCo Sets Off Alarms
Around 35 cars have been stolen in the past two weeks in rural Jefferson County, the sheriff's office said.

GOLDEN, CO – A rash of Jefferson County car thefts in the past two weeks has alarmed the sheriff's office, who sent out a warning and video surveillance photos Monday.
Wallets full of credit cards, electronic devices, money, even guns have disappeared, even from locked cars, the sheriff's office said. Thieves have also used garage door openers, found in unlocked cars, to open garages and burglarize cars within.
"They open the garage door just enough to slip underneath and slide items back out. If you hear your garage door opening in the middle of the night, call 911," a statement from the sheriff's office said.
