To take advantage of the best light for images and to provide exclusivity, the event will take place after the museum closes to the public on Aug. 1 and again the morning of Aug. 2 before the museum opens to the public. RGS 20 will pull a freight train, a passenger consist, and will pose on the turntable and with museum Galloping Goose self-propelled cars. Trains Editor Jim Wrinn and CRRM Curator Jeff Taylor will host.
No. 20 was built in 1899 for the Florence & Cripple Creek and later operated for RGS until 1951, when the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club saved the locomotive. It has been under restoration for 14 years and just recently returned to steam. This weekend marks its public debut.
