Cowboy Poets Ramble Back To Golden
Poets, storytellers and musicians celebrating the Western way of life convene in Golden for Colorado Cowboy Gathering 2018 next week.
GOLDEN, CO -- If you can't get enough of the National Western Stock Show vibe, you can head up to the mountains next weekend to hear the stories and songs of the cowboys who made the West. Since 1989, the annual Colorado Cowboy Poetry Gathering has celebrated the music, stories and poetry of cowboy heritage in a weekend of fun at the American Mountaineering Museum, 710 10th St. in Golden. Events this year take place Jan. 19-21.
"Cowboy poetry is a form of poetry which grew out of the traditions of workers on cattle drives and ranches, the organization says on their website. "After a long day in the saddle, cowboys would gather around a campfire and entertain one another with tall tales and folk songs... and so goes the story called Cowboy Poetry."

This year's event includes three evening performances, two full-days of popular theme session, and a Sunday matinee. Tickets range between $20-$70, with an all-weekend pass for $150.
