Denver Police caught Sean Garcia, who scaled a fence at Golden's Camp George West Tuesday morning

GOLDEN, CO -- An escaped minimum-security prison inmate did not have a long taste of freedom. Denver police caught up with Sean Garcia Tuesday afternoon after he slipped over a fence in Golden early Tuesday morning, the Colorado Department of Corrections announced.

At around 8:05 a.m. Sean Garcia scrambled over the perimeter fence and fled from the Colorado Correctional Center (also called Camp George West), in Golden. Garcia was serving time for weapons, theft and disturbing the peace charges out of Rio Blanco County and had been scheduled for mandatory release on Sept. 2.

Denver Police nabbed Garcia sometime Tuesday afternoon at an unspecified place, CDOC said in a followup press release.
