
Join us for a meet and greet at 6:30 PM followed by Dr. Andrew Gulliford's presentation entitled ”The Struggle for Bears Ears National Monument—with Updates.” Dr. Gulliford will tell the Bear Ears story and provide recent updates on the political controversy that put this region, sacred to five Native American tribes, at the center of an ongoing debate on public lands policy.
Andrew Gulliford, PhD, is a professor of history and environmental studies at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. He has received numerous prestigious awards for his teaching, style, research and publications. His books include Bears Ears: Landscape of Refuge and Resistance, Lonesome Landscapes: Stories from National Conservation Lands, and Sacred Objects and Sacred Places.
