Back Seat Robbery: Lakewood Man Shot By Strangers In His Car

Wounded victim drove back to 7-Eleven after being robbed and shot by two men who were hiding in his car's back seat, Lakewood police said.

LAKEWOOD, CO – A Lakewood man discovered two unknown men in the backseat of his car who pulled a gun, robbed and shot him, Lakewood police said. Police said around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, the 38-year-old man stopped at the 7-Eleven at West Mississippi Avenue and South Pierce Street and parked at the gas pumps and entered the store.

When he returned to his car, the victim drove southbound on Pierce Street. He realized two males were in his car and stopped near West Arizona Avenue and South Pierce Street. The men threatened and robbed him, shooting him and then running away, police said.

In spite of his injuries, the victim drove back to the 7-Eleven and asked the clerk to call 911. He was taken to St. Anthony Hospital for treatment of his injuries, police said.

Police described the two robbers as black males of unknown ages. One was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. The other suspect was wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

The incident may also be related to a carjacking that occurred in Denver involving a white Honda, Lakewood police said in a statement.

Approximately two hours after the Lakewood robbery, agents searching the area discovered a white Honda parked at South Marshall Street and West Mississippi Place It was identified as the Honda involved in the Denver carjacking.
