Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:
- Lakewood's 40 West Arts District scores yet another arts group. The Chicano Arts Genter got priced out of Denver and announced this week that they are moving to Lakewood. CHAC helped make Santa Fe Art District into a destination, but rising rents forced them to look elsewhere, and they've found a new home in the 40 West Arts District. CHAC will be moving into the space currently occupied by 40 West Art Gallery on Teller Street, and the 40 West gallery is set to move into a newly renovated space on Colfax. (Denverite)
- Vandals hit cars at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge. At least eight cars were vandalized in two employee parking lots at the medical center in Wheat Ridge. (9News)
- Rebuilding after Marshall Fire may get easier in Louisville. The City Council in Louisville is debating whether or not to let residents impacted by the Marshall Fire opt out of the 2021 IECC building code, which some claim will add tens of thousands of dollars more to rebuild. (CO Daily)
- Broken pipe at DIA flooded new B Gate expansion. The flooding, in the yet-to-be-opened B Gate expansion, damaged communications equipment, bathrooms, electronics, drywall, paint, carpet and floors, utilities and insulation. The lingering question is why did it take airport officials almost three months to disclose the damage to the public? Estimates to fix the damage caused by the flood is around $50 million. (CBS4)
- Robust orphan well funding mechanism created. Colorado oil and gas regulators are overhauling the rules in hopes of making sure there's money to clean up orphan wells that have been left behind by drillers. Environmental groups say the new rules are too complicated. (CO Sun)
