Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:
- Casa Bonita suing Lakewood to keep plans secret. Along with the City of Lakewood, the new owners are also suing Jefferson County Health, West Metro Fire Protection District and Lakewood Public Works to keep the restaurant's building plans out of public view after someone filed Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) request. (FOX31)
- Denver Regional Council of Governments said it's dropping I-25 and C-470 funding for expansions in place of a more climate-friendly transportation future. After dumping billions into a transportation system that favors Single Occupant Vehicles (SOV), DRCOG is planning to shift its focus away from road expansions and toward public transit, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure. (CPR)
- Craft brewers are bouncing back from the pandemic. The pandemic nearly destroyed the regional craft brewing industry, but breweries are posting decent growth and a return to something that feels more like what normal used to feel like. (Biz Update)
- Man who survived tough times is giving back. Frank Ewert knows exactly what the people he helps when he volunteers at We Don't Waste are going through. He was once on the other side of needing the services provided by WDW. (7News)
- After a wildfire, a little rain doesn't hurt. Last April, wildfire ravaged nearly half the acreage at the May Ranch near Lamar, CO. By August, this year's monsoons have transformed the burned patch into a vibrant green landscape. (CO Sun)
